Room Service Choice offers a web-based mobile meal ordering application accessible from any web browser, including an iPad® or other mobile tablets. You have the choice to offer staff-assisted entry of patient and guest meal selections at bedside or in a call center for either on-demand room service delivery or traditional tray line meal service. The bedside and call center ordering options are each designed to support the subtle differences in workflows between the call center and bedside entry. Room Service Choice is easy to use, easy to install, and easy to train.

  • On-Demand service supports hotel-style room service, enabling your staff to take a patient's order over the phone in the call center or by visiting the patient at the bedside. Search results can assist your staff in identifying patients needing to be visited or called. Orders can be printed to the kitchen immediately, supporting a true hotel-style room service.On-Demand is fully integrated with Tray Monitor®, so you know where your trays are at all times.
  • Menu Select service supports a traditional tray line, allowing your staff to collect orders for one or more meals at a time over the phone or bedside. Fully integrated with the Nutrition Service Suite® (NSS), suggested menus based on the chef's choice and any patient preferences can be presented in a spoken menu style. Easy access to information about all available menu cycle items let staff help patients get exactly what they want to eat. Orders are saved for tray ticket printing within NSS ensuring patients always receive safe and satisfying meals.

With Room Service Choice, you decide what service options are right for your organization. And, Room Service Choice grows with your operation—supporting your patient needs now, and in the future. With one convenient patient meal ordering solution, you can tailor your process by floor, building, ward, or patient.

Room Service Choice allows call center or host staff to operate within the same system regardless of whether they use a large touch screen monitor or a mobile tablet. A call center operator for an on-demand room service program opens On-Demand Call Center after logging in. Staff assigned to take orders at the bedside for traditional tray line production would choose Menu Select Assistant. If your staff changes roles throughout the day, like beginning work in the call center but then later going out on the floor, the software never changes—only the service option for their role.

Your operation may start with one service option and expand as needs change, or you may never need more than one service option to support your process. With Room Service Choice, we don't provide one right answer—we provide all the answers.

Do You Know Where Your Trays Are?
With Tray Monitor® and Tray Monitor Mobile™ you have the ability to monitor the progression of the order from the time a ticket is printed in the kitchen until the time the food tray is delivered. Tray Monitor lets you quickly find the location of any tray, and it will alert you when a tray's progress falls behind the expected time for preparation and delivery stages. Your staff can promote trays at the bedside using Tray Monitor Mobile, so your delivery data is accurate down to the second. The system records duration information for each stage of every order, allowing management to analyze data to improve operational efficiency. Tray Monitor Mobile will even alert delivery personnel when a patient's location has changed due to a room transfer after an order had printed in the kitchen. Excel-based reporting provides managers with tools to identify and resolve delivery issues quickly, so all trays can be delivered within your guaranteed service delivery time.

Room Service Choice displays the current tray delivery status with live updates from Tray Monitor/Tray Monitor Mobile. This data is available to staff in your call center or menu assistants on the floor right on the main search screen and within Day View option. Details about submitted orders in progress or queued for a specific delivery time are also available on the Day View option along with built-in Diet Order Change Alerts for any tickets currently in preparation and delivery.

By integrating with Nutrition Service Suite's (NSS) diet office capabilities, you get powerful clinical tools that make it easy to ensure safety and compliance with prescribed diets while increasing patient satisfaction.

An HL7 Diet Orders interface with your hospital's information system provides you with real-time diet information for your patients. Room Service Choice confirms each item for dietary compliance, ensuring that the patient does not receive a food he or she should not eat. Clinicians can enter patient-specific notes in NSS, which are always accessible to staff taking meal orders.

Monitoring and managing diabetic patients, especially insulin-dependent patients, is another critical aspect of ensuring patient safety. The system allows you to establish nutrient goals for each diet, as well as for individual patients by meal and by day. Seeing this dynamic nutrient tracking system with a comparison to goals on screen helps staff guide patients to make appropriate choices. Whenever an insulin-dependent patient begins to place an order, the insulin alert displays on the screen and an indicator will print on the Room Service Choice tray slip. In addition, the meal-tracking feature provides a history of all food items that were served to each patient.

Comprehensive Nutrient Data at Your Fingertips
CBORD®'s Master Nutrient Database (CMND) is a combination of various nutritional databases, provisional tables, and manufacturers' data that provides nutrient information on over 19,000 foods. It makes it easy for staff to determine if patient selections are nutritionally appropriate.

HIPAA Compliance

Room Service Choice supports your HIPAA compliance program by providing security administration tools to control employee access rights to patient data. Audit reports track system access, enabling you to monitor the activities of your users, as well as which patient records they have entered.
