Vista Support Intentions
Microsoft® has released Windows® Vista, the newest version of their desktop operating system. Vista is an update to previous system such as Windows 95, Windows NT® and Windows XP.
Windows Vista contains many new features including a new application security model and a new user interface. The Vista operating system requires significantly greater hardware resources in order to perform acceptably. Hardware upgrades for existing desktops to run Vista will likely be required.
Windows Vista is available in several different editions:
- Ultimate
- Home Premium
- Home Basic
- Business
- Enterprise
CBORD® desktop and server products depend upon the operating system and other third-party components. We are in the process of testing current versions of our desktop products against Vista. We anticipate that some of the CBORD desktop products will require an updated version to function properly. Customers should not install a CBORD desktop application on a Vista machine until our testing is complete and a supported version is available.
CBORD web-based applications do not depend upon the desktop operating system and should not be sensitive to whether or not Vista is installed.
CBORD does not plan to test or support the Home editions of Vista and as such will not recommend them. Since Vista is a desktop operating system, it will not be supported as a server for CBORD applications.
Customers wishing to move to Vista should plan on upgrading their hardware as well as their CBORD software once the appropriate version is available.
The following CBORD Desktop components have been tested on Vista:
| Odyssey PCS™ | V4.1.1 |
| Odyssey HMS™ | V4.1.1 |
| Datacard ID Works® | V 6.5 |
| Foodservice Suite® | V 6.0.100 |
| Nutrition Service Suite® | V 6.0.100 |
| CS Housing™ | V 4.0.5 |
| CS Gold® | V 5.0.14 |
Troubadour™ Desktop, EventMaster®, GeriCard®, and GeriMenu® have not passed testing for Vista. CBORD clients should not upgrade these desktops to Vista.
“We value our relationship with CBORD and see it as an ongoing partnership, working together to continuously improve our operation.”
