CBORD Client Wins Silver Plate Award

For Immediate Release

March 30, 2005

Ithaca, New York—The CBORD Group, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative food and nutrition software solutions and full-featured cashless systems for the Healthcare industry, is proud to recognize one of their clients, Rush University Medical Center (Linda Lafferty, Director of Food & Nutrition), winners of a 2005 International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) Silver Plate Award.

These industry-renowned operator awards are presented annually in recognition of excellence in foodservice operations. The awards acknowledge enduring and extraordinary achievement and innovation in the foodservice industry.

Rush University Medical Center has been a CBORD client since 1994. At that time Rush was one of the nations first healthcare facilities to integrate the use of diet orders and ADT interfaces. CBORD’s Menu Management software has proven to be a valuable tool in their kitchen and dietary department — saving time, money, and creating a more organized, paperless environment. CBORD inventory control and food costing capabilities are invaluable to Rush. "We cannot conceive of operating our facility without CBORD," said Marcelle Stone, Operations Manager. Since installing CBORD’s Diet Office Management System Rush has gone from nineteen full-time diet office employees to nine, while keeping consistent quality in foodservice and patient satisfaction.

Rush University Medical Center includes the 729-bed Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital; the 79-bed Johnston R. Bowman Health Center; and Rush University (Rush Medical College, College of Nursing, College of Health Sciences and the Graduate College).

“In the cafeteria, over 50% of the daily transactions are charged using the cashless card. This results in increased revenue for the hospital and had made the new Cashless system a proven success.”
